About the Sight Loss Data Tool

RNIB’s Sight Loss Data Tool began in 2013 in response to government changes that required local authorities to conduct needs assessments of their local population. We wanted eye health and sight loss to be included in these strategic assessments, so we developed a tool that provides a wide range of metrics across many different local authorities.

Over the next decade, the Sight Loss Data Tool evolved from a single spreadsheet into a more comprehensive resource. In subsequent versions, we incorporated new data, added narrative Word reports and expanded to include health geography.

Today, the Sight Loss Data Tool continues to innovate as the UK’s first fully accessible data hub.
